Birthday Shout Out King Sunny Ade

Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye (King Sunny Ade) is a Nigerian music legend and multi-instrumentalist. Notable for for his jújú sub-genre of Afropop music, the Ondo-native has had a great influence on not just Nigeria’s music, but Africa all encompassing. King Sunny Ade is regarded as Africa’s Mick Jagger for his reflex and energetic display on the stage of play.

With over five decades of scintillating music vibes to the soul, King Sunday Ade became the first Nigerian to be nominated for the Grammy awards in the ethnic/traditional folk recording category, with credit to his 1983 released album, Syncro System.

The music sensation had a stint in  Nigeria’s Nollywood movies in the the early 2000s, and his songs used as soundtrack in some Hollywood movies.

As a recipient of several awards, King Sunny Ade was conferred upon a national honor as the Member of Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by Nigerian federal government. Also in 2016, the royal prince was inducted into Hard Rock Cafe hall of fame.
