A model football talent search series called “Davido Dream Football Show” has been launched by Nigerian hip hop singer David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, in collaboration with Abu Salami Media and 1XBet.
DDFS is an endeavour to advance youth football, particularly at the grassroots level, through a developed curriculum that has the potential to improve core technical skills and tactical awareness in young players who are dedicated to compete at the top levels.
The campaign is intended to develop and encourage young male football talents between the ages of 18 and 22 in Nigeria and throughout Africa, according to Abu Salami, the Chief Executive Officer of Abu Salami Media and concurrently the Chairman of DDFS.
Salami remarked on Tuesday at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, during the media presentation of the programme: “The Davido Dream Football Show will enable young football talents to realise their dreams of becoming stars in future.”
The reality TV programme would air one episode each week for 30 weeks, he claimed.
Speaking further, he said: “First, we will organise screening of those who will register. Once they are screened, we will organise a series of trials. From that exercise, the best among them will be selected for camping for the final show.”
According to Davido, the President of DDFS, “We all know impact is essential and a show like this will not only engage the minds of the youths, it will birth meaningful changes and opportunities for youths across Nigeria and Africa as a whole. I believe it’ll also set the pace for impact-driven initiative in grassroots football in Africa.”
Talents will be chosen to participate in the show based on skill, attitude, and dedication through periodic screenings around Nigeria and camping designed to prepare chosen talents for trials with partner clubs in Europe.
