Leading applied mathematics expert Prof. Abdon Atangana teaches at the University of the Free State, South Africa where he currently resides.
He distinguished himself by earning both his honours and master’s degrees from the Department of Applied Mathematics at the UFS with distinction. Having studied at the Institute for Groundwater Studies, he earned his PhD in applied mathematics.
According to Stanford University’s Top 2% of Scientists in the Globe list, Professor Abdon Atangana, a 37-year-old Cameroonian, is the second-best mathematician in the entire world and is placed 188th out of 195,605 scientists, engineers, and technologists.
He is renowned for creating a novel fractional operator that is used to simulate actual engineering, scientific, and technological difficulties.
On the global Clarivate Web of Science list in 2020, Professor Atangana was recognized as one of 10 South African scientists in the top 1% of scientists.
