Ebuka Uchendu is 40 years old today.
Popular media personality and lawyer, Chukwuebuka Obi Uchendu was born on July 14, 1982 in Benin City, Edo State to a banker father and a mother who is a nurse. He is the third of four children with an elder sister as well as one older brother, and a younger brother. He is a native of Okija, Anambra State, Nigeria.
He is an ambassador for Budweiser in Nigeria, Samsung Nigeria, PorkMoney and 2Sure Nigeria. He is the host of the reality show, Big Brother Naija and the channels television talk show, Rubbin Minds. He also co-hosts The Spot and Men’s Corner on Ebonylife and freelances as an MC for events.
Ebuka who he went in as one of the 14 housemates on the first season of the popular TV reality show Big Brother Naija and finished with eighth position in 2006 has since then gained popularity. However, he was announced as the host of the second season of the reality show in January 2017.
Notably, after the show in 2006, he signed endorsement deals with a telecommunications brand and brewing company. He also became the host of Friend or Foe on NTA, NTA’s The Glo and Guinness’ Greatness. He even had a weekly column called Contrast with a Nigerian national daily newspaper, This Day for 4years. Aside that, he also wrote several other publications, among them are What’s New and Ace Magazines.
In Nigeria 2011 general elections, Ebuka hosted the first ever presidential which was broadcast live across Nigeria.
He has gone on to interview top personality such as Davido, Omojuwa, Chika Unigwe, Banky W.,Seun Kuti, Japheth J., Oluchi, Gbenga Sesan and so on.
On 15 April 2015 Ebuka got engaged to HR manager, Cynthia Obianodo in Lagos and they wedded in Abuja on February 6, 2016.
He had his nursery and primary education in the mid-western Nigerian city of Benin where he passed his Common Entrance Examination in primary four and Secondary School. Shortly after this, his family moved down to Abuja where he had his secondary education at Christ The King College and graduated in 1997. He had his first degree at the University of Abuja and graduated in 2004. He proceeded to Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja and finished in 2005. Ebuka worked for 5 years and decided to go back to school then he went to Washington College of Law of American University where he obtained Master of Law degree with a specialisation in intellectual property and Communications Law.
In 2011, he was selected as a Global Shaper. (This is a group of emerging leaders across the world) with the World Economic Forum and in 2013, the Federal Government ranked him as one of the Best 100 Young Nigerians in one of the events to mark Nigeria’s 100th anniversary as a union.
Ebuka among the several nominations he got won, the award for Outstanding TV Presenter of the Year at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards for his show, Rubbin Minds and 2021 Net Honours’ Most Popular Media Personality (Male).
