Gbenga Lawal: Celebrating Black Excellence In Academics And Consulting

Gbenga Lawal is a Nigerian scholar, consultant, and entrepreneur. He is an expert within the purviews of international relations, African politics, and foreign policy. Gbenga is a former member of the senior academic staff of the Olabisi Onabanjo University at where he was able to initiate administrative functions with tremendous contributions to the university; he served the Board of Faculty of Social Sciences in various capacities and was the graduate programs coordinator at the Department of Political Science. He is also an erstwhile senior member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities in Nigeria.

Gbenga’s resume is chalked with both scholarly and entrepreneurial acumen in different respects. He is adroitly certified in the United Kingdom as a trainer, personal performance coach, counter-fraud specialist, and conflict analyst from the United States Institute of Peace, USA. Lawal holds a degree in political science and a master’s degree in international law and diplomacy.

Dubbing as a serial social entrepreneur, he is the founder of Skillsmindset Limited, Potters Property Holdings, and a co-founder of Relief Efforts Foundation. Avidly passionate about entrepreneurial development, he offers free skills development and employability training and workshops for budding entrepreneurs, youth empowerment programs in the UK and Nigeria. Eliciting his skills as a business development consultant, he has had stints with Greater Hope Consultancy, and was an Independent Research Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and at Institute of Commonwealth Studies United Kingdom.

As a reputable scholar and leadership expert, Gbenga has immensely contributed to the body of knowledge globally with both national and international publications to his authorship.  

He was one of the few selected invitees who were sponsored to attend the United Nations World Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2002 and the beneficiary of a grant to attend the International Political Science Association (IPSA), XIX World Congress, and the 14th Biennial Congress of African Association of Political Science (AAPS), held in Durban, South Africa in 2003.
