On September 30, 1975, Adekunle Ayodeji Akande Afolayan was born in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian actor, producer, and director. Afolayan is the CEO of Golden Effects Pictures, a 2005-founded film and production business in Nigeria.
He is from Kwara State and is of Igbomina-Yoruba heritage. Ade Love, a theatre and cinema director, is his father.
Prior to opting to transition into full-time filmmaking and enrolling in a course at the New York Film Academy, he studied in finance and began by working in a bank while performing some sporadic acting.
He has been working in the Nigerian film industry since 2005. He has produced a number of movies, including Phone Swap and The Figurine: Araromire, which were both in Yoruba and English. The Figurine was a hit at Nigerian movie cinemas and took home five major African Film Academy awards.
Tolu and Afolayan are married, and together they have four kids.
His films consistently top the charts, and he is renowned for producing timeless works that are enjoyable at any time. He has received numerous honors for his excellent deeds both domestically and abroad.
He received the Best Director honor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2010.
