Duncan Wene Mighty Okechukwu, simply known as Duncan Mighty is a Nigerian musician and music producer from Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. His songs are mostly sung in his native Ikwerre language.
Duncan Mighty was born on 28 October 1983.
Duncan Mighty speaking on the meaning behind “Wene”, he said ” Wene is my local name, the native name they know me by at home, Wene means brotherhood. If you are a Port-Harcourt man, you will easily grasp the meaning. It means my brother from another mother. I always use that slogan in every of my songs because ‘wene mighty’ means togetherness.”
Duncan Wene Mighty started playing the drums in church and directed the choir when he was young. With time, his passion for music deepened, and it ultimately brought him to the university to pursue a degree in audio engineering. He worked as a sound instructor for Benson and Hedges throughout his Youth Service. While working on IT at the Lagos Muson Centre, he also worked at Dolphin Studios. Despite having a heavy focus on music production at the time, Wene Mighty was confident in his vocal ability. Later, he would start recording, finally integrating both of his talents.
He went back to Port Harcourt in 2006, where he had previously worked for the record labels 360 Records and D Large Records before forming AireMighty Records with well-known jeweler Chris Aire.
Duncan Mighty’s debut studio album, Koliwater, which he published in 2008, helped establish him as a domestic hitmaker in the music business.
Indigenous Artist of the Year at the 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards was awarded to him.
Duncan Mighty wed his fiancee Vivien on July 25, 2015. In November 2014, Duncan Mighty had made a marriage proposal to his then-fiance.
