MTN CEO’s Father, Olubiyi Toriola Crowned As Modakeke Monarch

Prince Joseph Olubiyi Toriola, the 81-year-old biological father of MTN’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Karl Olutokun Toriola, was crowned as the new Ogunsua of Modakeke in Ife South local government area of Osun State on Saturday.

The ceremony, which drew sons and daughters of the town as well as other key officials from the state, was also attended by notable individuals and well-wishers from all walks of life.

Speaking during the occasion held at the town’s palace, the newly appointed monarch, Oba Toriola, expressed gratitude to God for making his dream a reality.

He also thanked community members for their efforts in making the day heroic and vowed to do his best to contribute positively to the town’s progress.

The monarch, who revealed that he had been in line to be the town’s monarch for the previous 43 years, stated that he will work with all stakeholders in the community to bring more development to our village.

He did, however, assure people of the community to expect quick growth in the land shortly, stating that all hands would be on deck to make the town a pacesetter as attempts to bring investors into the community would be strengthened.

According to Vulnerable Julius Odelola Odegbemi, National President of Modakeke Progressive Union (MPU), the newly installed monarch is humble, straightforward, giving, and enterprising, and the president believes he will use his wealth of knowledge to develop Modakeke.

Odegbemi, who contended that he was a well-traveled individual with an exposed personality, maintained that his unexplainable connections as a well-traveled person would hasten the community’s development.
The new Oba was believed to be a successful businessman who is well-liked in the community by his kinsmen due to his charity before his installation.
