An International Women’s Day Conference tagged Embrace Gender Equity by Empowering Her through Innovation and Technology is currently ongoing in Kigali, Rwanda. The conference which hosts African women and men that love them features culture, trade, health and tourism.
The event kick-started at 5pm on Wednesday, 26th April in Kigali Century Park Nyarutarama.
Notably, this exquisite event was brought together by Mrs Abolaji Odunuga the Editor-in-Chief, Duchess International Magazine in partnership with Custodian Global Consult Ltd.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Abolaji often referred to as Duchess said: “We decided to bring this conference to Rwanda because we found that Rwanda has a very large number of women in leadership positions, and we think it is good to come and learn from Rwanda; to see what women in Rwanda are doing. They are doing special things that make Rwanda develop, granting them recognition in other African countries. I live in the UK, but even there when you talk about African countries, they say Rwanda, if you come to Nigeria, they say Rwanda. It will be fun for us to learn from the women of Rwanda how they do it and take the knowledge to our country Nigeria.”
In attendance at the event are notable men and women from Nigeria, UK, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, to mention a few.
Also, the conference which is having its debut in Kigali is expected to continue annually.
Speaking about the warm reception the team received, Duchess revealed: “It was initially planned that next year’s meeting will be held in another African country but we talked to your DG, Frank Gisha, (Frank Gisha Mugisha, Director General of Tourism Department at PSF) who received us very well, we are happy particularly for the way he received us, so we want to come back to Rwanda next year before we go to another country.”
The three-day event continues at Four Points, Sheraton Kigali, Rwanda.
