Sengalese professional footballer, Sadio Mane wins CAF Award of Men’s Player of the Year award.
Sadio Mane becomes CAF Footballer of the Year having beaten his fellow Teranga Lions teammate, Edouard Mendy and former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah.
Mane joined Bundesliga champions quite recently, in 2021, led Senegal to their first continental title, consecutive World Cup appearance and also played a key role in Liverpool’s quadruple bid which came out beautifully.
This award is Mane’s second, making him the fifth African to win the award in consecutive years since CAF gained the power of giving the award in 1992.
The 30-year-old Mane forward scored the decisive penalty kick against Egypt in the AFCON final earlier this year in Cameroon.
The CAF Awards is an award evening being held to honour the best African association football players. The award however, is being conferred by the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
