Success Story: A Sneak Peek Into How This Entrepreneurs Started A Real Estate Business Amid The Pandemic And Made Seven Figures

by Duke Magazine

The coronavirus pandemic upended the world and caused massive disruption in the business world. This led to many businesses collapsing and people losing their jobs as companies seek to downsize to stay afloat. The pandemic left the business world in a period of uncertainty and caused investors and people who wanted to start a new venture to have a rethink.

Despite the uncertainty the pandemic brought, it did not deter entrepreneurs Beni Fwelo and Marquis Robinson from starting a business. The duo founded Skyview Acquisitions Group, a real estate company that has already achieved seven figures.

They created Skyview Acquisitions Group in late 2020 and started working on the company in early 2021. They initially started operating in the wholesale market by matching buyers to sellers looking for a seamless transaction, according to Forbes.
They later reinvested their profit and also ventured into buying and renovating properties for sale at a higher value. Beyond the financial gains, Fwelo and Robinson are exploring ways to expand affordable housing by considering options like multi-family residence.

Fwelo grew up having a strong passion for entrepreneurship. He was born in Congo and migrated to the U.S. after high school. During his school days, he attempted several ventures such as organizing events and selling products.

When he first came to the U.S., Fwelo took up a job as a dishwasher. Over time, he landed a role at Comcast working in sales. His success in the role ignited his passion to climb up the corporate ladder. However, his team was laid off due to structural changes.

Knowing how fragile it was to work for someone, Fwelo decided to be his own boss. He fixed his eyes on real estate and started consulting some people he knew in the industry. He then committed to learning the nitty-gritty of the job through self-learning.

When he eventually secured his real estate license, he carved a niche for himself after a few errors. His business started growing, making good income to expand his team. It was during the period of expanding the business that he met his business partner, Robinson.

Unlike Fwelo who started his journey doing menial jobs, Robinson started his career in sales at Verizon but over time, he realized he did not have a passion for the job. After a period, he left Verizon and worked as a teacher for three years.

His interest in real estate came when he attended a seminar that motivated him to look into the sector. Shortly after the seminar, he quit his job and started learning about real estate via a friend.

According to Forbes, by 2020, Robinson was making six figures from his real estate business and this was when Fwelo approached him for them to work together, resulting in the establishment of Skyview Acquisitions Group.

Fwelo and Robinson know the importance of giving back. They are planning to organize seminars and courses for people who are interested in real estate.
