Wasiu Ayinde Celebrated his 50th Year in Entertainment Industry on Sunday July 3, 2022. Wasiu Ayinde Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Anifowoshe was born on March 3 1957 in Agarawu, Lagos State Nigeria. He is a native of Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria and a Nigerian Fuji musician.
Ayinde is also known as igi Jegede, Oba Orin (King of Music), King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, Kwam1 and K1 De Ultimate
He announced his 50th year in music industry via his social media page.
Ayinde Marshal developed interest in music at age eight although his parents were in opposition initially. At 15, he already won lots of musical competitions. He became a member of late Ayinde Barrister’s musical band from 1975-1978 before later setting up his own band.
He included “Ayinde” into his name after seeking the permission and blessings of his master, Ayinde Barrister.
His first album, “Iba” with the special track ‘Abode Mecca’ was released in 1980. He later released Talazo ’84 which is believed to be one of his greatest hits in 1984.
In 1995, he had first Fuji performance ever at WOMAD Festival. Ayinde is also the only Fuji artist to ever perform at Troxy, WOMEX and SOB’s.
He has won many titles and several music awards. He won the 2013 Headies Hall of Fame and in 2014, he won City People Lifetime Achievement Award.
He has equally held several chieftaincy titles such as: Badabarawu of Ogijo in 1985, Ekerin Amuludun of Ibadanland in 1986, Golden Mercury of Africa Title in 1986, Honoris Causa of Music at Saint John University Bakersfield California USA in 1989, he was crowned King of Fuji, (Oluaye Fuji Music) at NTA Ibadan in 1993 and the Oluomo of Lagos by King Adeyinka Oyekan of Lagos in 1999.
On Monday, January 13, 2020, he was installed by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as the first Mayegun of Oyo Kingdom.
