Her Excellency, Amb. Ijeoma Chinonyerem Obiezu is a Nigerian politician and philanthropic. She is currently Nigeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Ireland and a holder of concurrent accreditation to Iceland.
Born in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, the avid passion of Amb. Obiezu to serve as a source of hope and happiness inspired her to delve into politics in Nigeria. This gave her the leverage to impact lives that cross her path, with a soft spot for the underserved people in society.
As a woman who has been able to make an indelible stamp in the male-dominating purview of politics in Nigeria, Amb. Obiezu is widely reputed as a ‘woman inspiring women’ who has used her political simplicity and ingenuity to inspire women aspiring to become leaders.
Amb. Obiezu’s acumens of leadership have spanned different positions that include a one-time Transition Committee member of Ideato North Local Government Area, Deputy Chairman of Imo State Board of Internal Revenue, Special Assistant to the Governor, Special Assistant to Imo State Governor on General Duties, Imo State Women Leader of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), etc.
The grassroots politician holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language with post-graduate studies in International Relations in view.
In recognition of her remarkable contributions to the development of Imo State and Nigeria at large, which includes front-lining the movement for more inclusivity of women in politics, Amb. Obiezu, popularly called Igolo Nwanyi, is a recipient of several awards, notable of which are “Golden Mother” and “Ugomba”.
