Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW): DJ Switch

Affirmative is the statement “what a man can do a woman can do better”. The narrative is valid for a woman of brain and brawn. Some persons see her as just a celebrity disc jockey, while she is being described as the daring woman of valor.

Born Obianuju Catherine Udeh, DJ Switch is a Nigerian DJ and songwriter. Gracing the entertainment space of Nigeria since 2009, her career fully kicked off after she emerged the winner of the maiden and only edition of the Glo X-Factor in 2013. With this breakthrough, the graduate of Geology has been relevant as a party starter on the wheel of steel.

However, the tune of recognition and prominence became highly pitched for DJ Switch when she streamed Instagram Live of the alleged Lekki Massacre that stems from the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria in October 2020. The video has helped to expose the alleged murders of innocent Nigerian youths perpetrated by the Nigerian military.

The act of bravery which has caused an outcry from the international community over the insensitivity and killing of unarmed protesters. However, to salvage every allegedly-seeming death threats from unknown parties, the mother of one was granted an asylum in Canada in November, 2020.
