Kemi Adetiba is a Nigerian filmmaker, movie and music video director. She is known as one of the best movie directors in a male-dominating space of directors in Nigeria’s Nollywood industry, with her works evident on Netflix, Soundcity, BET, etc.

Born in 1980, Adetiba’s career in media became stirred at a young age when she got a gig to feature in a national television commercial for a detergent brand. Also born to parents who were movie actors, her dreams of becoming a household name in the movie industry came to light.

Having spent several years at the front of the camera as a presenter, Adetiba furthered her career in movie directing by enrolling in the New York Film Academy. Complementing her artistic skills, she has been the brain behind many intriguing movies across Africa with her short film ‘Across a Bloodied Ocean’ being screened at the 2009 Pan African Film Festival and National Black Arts Festival.
Some of the biggest Nigerian movies directed by Adetiba are ‘The Wedding Party,’ ‘King of Boys,’ and ‘King of Boys: The Return of King.’ Adetiba holds a bachelor’s in law from the University of Lagos.

In recognition of her craft as a filmmaker who knows her onions and how to cut them, the 41-year-old Black woman won the 2015 City People Entertainment Award as the Best Music Video Director and the 2017 HNWOTY Award for Woman of the Year in Film and Television.
